Finding the Perfect Location for Your Garden Shed

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

If your garage is becoming cluttered with all your garden tools, it may be time to buy a shed kit or some garden shed plans. The location of the shed will usually be determined by the size of the backyard and the layout. But before you consider a location contact the building department and be aware of the building codes in your area.

When you are walking around outside looking for a location, make sure the area does not puddle when it rains. Add pea gravel to ensure proper drainage. Having good drainage will prevent moisture, and stop damage to the shed floor and the items being stored.

You as well will want to avoid areas that have underground utility lines. If there is small trees near the area you will be building, the tree roots can cause damage to the shed in the future. By being well informed and prepared you can avoid many problems in the future.

What to Expect from a Bed Bug Problem

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

After a few nights of having really bad sleep, I woke up shocked to see some rash on my arms. I was in a frantic scratching after a few minutes and I couldn’t seem to stop. I immediately checked my sheets and saw tiny drops of blood. I looked for any open wounds in my arms but I didn’t find any. Upon checking under the mattress, I saw tiny bugs on the mattress linings. I tried to pull one out and saw that it was bed bugs.

I picked the out one by one and submerged them in a bottle of water. I set out to call the exterminator to see if he can find more bed bugs around the house. After a few hours, they were busy spraying cans of bed bug spray all over the house to kill the bed bugs for good. It was only a few days after that I was allowed to move back in and see the extent of the damage. After that I never fail to check the mattress for any early signs of bed bugs.

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

I’m going to do a search online about “Riverside hydro” as I’m looking to have some information on this topic. I have always been interesting about everything that relates to nature. I try to study as much that I can about nature. I remember when I was young, I had a great imagination. I used to dream about different things. Now that I’m older, I hardly dream anymore. I used to spend a lot of time outdoors, and I remember I used to love that. I have the impression that I care less about these things, but I don’t find that to be normal. Lately I have been thinking about starting a garden. I think this is a good way for me to reconnect with nature. And I’m planning on doing outdoor activities with my family that I can share my love for nature with them. I’m looking forward to explore what nature has to offer.

The Craftsmanship of a Copper Planter

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

A handcrafted, hammered copper planter is a piece of artwork that could add to your future garden. These designs are usually handcrafted by skillful craftsmen from South Asia. They form the planter by heating and hammering a sheet of copper into their desired shape and design. The whole procedure is done by hand and is truly a work of art. The final color would depend as copper changes color when heated, and the final touches are done by using a particular hammer and by adding lacquer to protect the final finish. This art form is usually done by families, the art form and knowledge handed down to the next generations to come. An artwork so remarkable not only enhances your garden’s beauty but serves as a conversational piece as well.

Having materials made this way has a number of advantages. They do not crack or break. They are sturdy enough to withstand adverse weather conditions and like wine, they get better as they age. Copper materials smoothen and develop a green cast that many people find exceptionally charming. Urns, vases, bowls, planters and other decor done in copper goes well with any kind of surrounding. May it be for indoor or outdoor use. A tiny warning, though. When using copper based decor for outdoor material, be aware that it heats up quite easily especially if under direct sunlight, so always check how and where you use or place your copper garden bench. For planters, since they are nonporous, it is best to have drainage holes at the bottom so that water may seep out. Also, consider placing them in shaded areas so that they will not be directly under the sun.

A sensational way to emphasize the corners of your porch or your living room, hammered copper planters with their durability and handcrafted, artful finish, would be the star of your home.
