I don’t move a lot. The last time that I have moved was almost a decade ago, so this is something quite interesting for me. After ten years of working in the construction trade I was ready for a bit of a change to something new in the field. That’s why I went through BPI training to get my certificate and become a building analyst for residential homes. With rising energy costs all across the board people really want to know that their home is energy efficient. Well with my training I can come in and do an audit to let them know what to expect from their home systems and even point out any potentially dangerous interactions between them. If I can save someone a thousand a year on their utilities, and that is a lower number then what most do save, then we are talking on average about twenty grand or so over the course of the average home owner staying in one place. I was just their substitute teacher. I got a call from a friend who’s also a teacher in Carlsbad and she needed my help. Apparently, she had to go on sick leave, and she asked me to fill in for her. Because she was a really good friend of mine, I decided to give her the favor. And so, I became a substitute teacher for her class. It was really fun meeting new students. I relish that moment every new school year. This is different though. I’ve never been a sub before, but it actually is the same, except it’s a bit awkward at first, especially if it’s already in the middle of the school year.
